next i'd think about putting a 180 deg. thermostat in the car, my car was over heating a lot, and i put the 180 deg thermostat in it and i've not had the problem since.. mine was mostly happening on the really hot days when i was trying to idle and run the a/c if i was driving running the a/c was fine but sitting there idling it just wanted to raise up on the really hot days.. but i would have tried the thermostat first off before i put a lot of money into things that might not be the problem anyways a good radiator flush is never a bad thing.. hope this helps you out some.. you should be able to get a thermostat for under 30 bucks easy to install and so on

does the temp drop when you turn the heater on? Could be a heater core.

When is the engine over heating? (at idle, cruising in town or driving on highway).
