I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE SOME MUFFLER FOR MY 2000 MUSTANG GT. DO YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY TYPE OF RESTRICTION ON THE STOCK PIPES THAT WOULD PREVENT MY CAR FROM SOUNDING GOOD, IF I THREW SOME FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS ON THE STOCK PIPES. I KNOW I WOULDN’T BE GETTING THE FULL HORSEPOWER, BUT FOR AWHILE I JUST WANT TO GO FOR THE SOUND UNTIL SUMMER THEN I WILL THROW MY H-PIPE AND CAT-BACK PIPES. ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN PURCHASE JUST THE PIPES FOR THE CAT-BACK WITHOUT THE MUFFLERS, IF SO WHERE WOULD I BUY THEM AND WHICH WOULD BE THE BETTER FIT TO GO WITH IF I DECIDE TO THROW ON FLOWMASTERS OR MAGNAFLOW. INFORMATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

I'd suggest magnaflows over drone-masters. Or some magna-paks to get that full hollow sound that is awesome on the 4.6L.

Thats not necessarily true, many exhaust manufactures list the mods they have performed (or lack thereof) on the testbed car.
I can garantee you with the o/r x or h pipe and good flowing exhaust you will see a good improvement. 4.6's love the extra breathing room on top end. on 50 series flows, not so much, but the 40 series are nice and hollow.
I had flowmasters, sold them, wish to god I hadn't loved them. Im running Dynomax Race Bullets now, I do not, repeat DO NOT reccomend anyone buy the Race Bullets or any other kind of race bullet style muffler as they sound like crap. I've got a pair of Magnaflow Wide Open Ovals sitting in my floor waiting for installation.
This is on a stock manifolds, o/r Xpipe Mandrel bent catback car...2.5" pipes...

For sound, flowmasters or Bassani/Magnaflow For performance, bullets...

On my 1998 GT I have a MAC ProChamber-off road pipe and flowmasters. This summer I want to put an SLP Loud Mouth on it.

I've been thinking long and hard on my exhaust system and even found youtube videos with them so I was going to go with Cervini's side mount exhaust, sounds pretty decent and I know it adds way more breathing power so just a little thought for anyone who happens by this thread.

BTW My stang is an 05 V6 and a 10 second V6 mustang is possible you just have to map out the engine mods right. And I've owned my 05 since January 07 [Second owner guilty as charged but I've taken better care of her then the first owner... Guess all my 3 yrs of being a grease monkey payed out lol] but no V6 or V8 it is possible to have a 10 second Mustang you just need to think long and hard on the mods. The engine block is steel And steel can only take so much pressure. You need to allieviate from said pressure. Think Engine Exhaust Engine Torque to Horse Power Convertion. And then think Horse Power. Why do you all think the first engine mod I'm going with is Dual Cervini's Side mount Exhaust. That retracks the breathing system about 3-4 feet. Means the exhaust from the engine has less time to travel through the system. And at 2.5 inches that allows alot of exhaust. Not mention the shortening of it retaining within the exhaust system itself, we're talkin miliseconds but in the long loads of time. Then you wanna focus on your crank pistons and rods. I suggest titainium racing mods on that factor. Any engine hoist and stand will get you where you need to be on this factor but if you want a quality factor I'd suggest looking each up online. Go with American or Japanesse made hoist and stands only. I for one work in a Shop or Garage am currently unemployed but have an ap in for a garage and it's a very real possibility I get the job so I know quality www.asedeals.com/engine_hoist.html?gclid=CNLX7c-v7ZkCFWVM5QodtGBOQw is your best bet for the Engine Hoist. I only do my shopping at SEARS or when the Snap on Truck happens by the garage or dealership [I've worked in both] but www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950341000P?vName=Tools&cName=Mechanics+Tools&sName=Lift+Equipment it's your best bet for an engine Stand it's a Sears product so you know you get a warranty. After you've replaced your crank shaft pistons and pistons rods then you want to work on your CAI and Super Charger. I've already suggest a JTL Supercharger to a fellow Mafia member and as for the JBL CAI I would suggest the stage two filter. Or you can go a whole new route and take in the ram air system now if you have the right SuperCharger you can fit a Ram air even into a V6. This was my plan from the start and after all that a nice aluminum drive shaft and remove the rear seats. After all that I honestly wouldn't wanna even get in my own way. I left out a few things. Because it's taken me almost a year and a half to get to where I'm at with my S197 V6 [in theory]. So I'll let you conclude what you need if you are serious about a 10 second car.
