I am wanting to swap a T-56 Viper Spec Cobra transmission into my 1998 Mustang GT. The car has a T-5 OD transmission. What will need to be changed to install the T-56? I am wanting to put some seriously lower gears in, but still want to be able to enjoy driving the car on the highway some. Thanks. Tom

The clutch will work but while u have it apart i would buy a good one.But yes they both have 10 splines and they bolt up the same on the 4.6 .What do u want for ur old t-5 when u take it out?

Are you sure the 98 Gt's didn't come out with T-45's? I know for my '00 v6, I couldn't swap a 4.6 because fo the bellhousing and tranny issues. I either had to get a T-45 or a TR-3650. If so, that'd be the route to go.
