OKAY I AM LOOKING TO PUT SOME 3.73 IN MY 2000 MUSTANG GT, I WAS SPEAKING WITH A MECHANIC ABOUT THEM AND HE SAID THAT ON THE NEW TYPE CARS, GEARS TEND TO JACK UP THE TRANNY....I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, DOES ANY RECOMMEND AN AFTERMARKET UPGRADE PART FOR THE TRANNY SO I DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE GEARS MESSING THINGS UP. ALSO IF I DO DECIDE TO GO WITH THE GEARS, WHICH IS MORE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR A DAILY DRIVER. 3.73 OR 3.93 I WONT DO 4.10 BECAUSE THAT IS WAY TO MUCH FOR ME AND I AM ON THE HIGHWAY HALF THE TIME.

I would go with the 4:10 for an auto with overdrive it will still run nicely down highway. I've also never heard of gears messing with a tranny.

I have 3.90's I LOVE THEM ALOT they pull harder than 3.73, and you still get good highway driving!

Well with the S197 series mustang = 05 to present. The 3.73 gear ratio's are for Mustang Coupes/Convertables [V6's] the 4.10's are perfect for super charged V6's and the 3.90's are for any V8 9in rear end. again perfect for super charged V8's instead of V6's. Which is why I want to switch to a rebuilt racing tranny with gears designed specifically to match the V6 Crankshaft but to compensate and drop in a ford 9in rear end. I want the 3.90's... Of course this is all here say... No one has ever been able to get an S197 V6 above 600hp... I've been studying it's fluase and intend to get my 197 V6 to above 600Bhp... Screw the HP I want BHP and there is a difference, HP is the horsepower out put of the engine Break horsepower is the horsepower that meets the wheels. Just to clarify a few things up incase anyone still checks this post out I wanted to get a few theory's I've come acrost for the S197 series mustang out there.
